My Work

This section is designed to give you a brief impression of my prior work experience and account for the types of work that I have undertaken so far. I have been able to attain a number of positive, work-related references that you can find to the right.

Current Employment

At the moment I am working at ]init[ AG, a German Internet agency focusing on public administration and finance clients. The range of services offered by the company covers the development of large web portals, complex specialized applications, IT consulting, hosting, and content creation, as well as editorial services. I was initially employed by ]init[ in early 2012 as a Content Editor at their headquarters in Berlin but soon took over responsibility as Project Lead for various accounts. Additionally, I engaged in conceptual design, utilizing my creativity in a structured, collaboration-oriented way. I specialized in the topic of online accessibility, building up expertise, drafting strategy documents, and holding numerous workshops.

In January 2014, I was promoted to Sales Manager responsible for the European market, and later the same year, again, to Regional Manager in charge of the ]init[ office in Brussels. I moved to Belgium in August 2014 and have since been upholding close contact to the company's key European accounts outside of Germany. This not only requires a good understanding of the technical aspects and economic framework of the European IT market, but also allows me to leverage my inter-cultural and language skills.

Prior Experience

As Publications Manager at the German chapter of Wikimedia, the support association of Wikipedia, I gained in-depth practical experience while conceptualizing, planning and realizing a book project to mark the tenth anniversary of the online encyclopedia. Тhе collaboration with a publishing house such as Hoffmann & Campe, and coordination as well as editorial oversight of nearly 100 authors required a highly structured workflow. Marketing the book made it necessary to organize several major events as well. In addition, I was entrusted with PR tasks, such as attending press conferences, creating press materials, building and maintaining websites and other related activities.

During my university career I undertook part-time and project-related work as a student assistant at the consulting company BUB Dr. Benölken Unternehmensberatung GmbH in Kassel and Dresden for the duration of five years. Participating in various projects has not only improved my research and time management skills, but provided me moreover with an understanding of financial institutions and management consulting practices.

At the beginning of 2009 I had the opportunity to do a three month internship at the highly regarded PR agency Hill & Knowlton in Berlin. During this employment I gained valuable insights into a wide range of PR activities, while working primarily for a major European energy infrastructure project. My stint at Hill & Knowlton focused especially on aspects of online relations and media monitoring.

Before taking up my university education I did a six month internship at the management consulting company Inno Consult GmbH in Dresden. Apart from the basic training and additional qualification that I received at the time, I succeeded in establishing myself as a reliable employee. That, in turn, enabled me to continue this professional relationship even after the company was integrated into BUB (see above).

Mandatory Civil Service

The twelve months of my mandatory civil service were spent at Schlösser und Gärten Dresden. This assignment taught me to appreciate manual labor, but also confronted me with some of the complexities, that a genuine commitment to historic landscaping and the upkeep of century-old architecture imply.
